Thread: Different computers having different start-up times ...

hi,

running xubuntu 11.10 on 2 of laptops. fujitsu siemens li 2727 has 1 gig of memory , and msi wind u230 has two.

making me scratch head computer least memory starts fastest. far know both set , configured identically.

suggestions?!

memory not factor. 1 gb pc might have faster hard drive, or faster processor, or maybe has fewer drivers , stuff load.

long have minimum amount of ram, startup speed not helped adding more ram. having more ram matters when start running more applications.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
