Thread: How to restore a file to its previous location?

hello, exploring ubuntu , clicked on dash. searched "naut..." saw 2 applications mames "home folder" , "files". accidently, transported files desktop. i've 2 questions may unimportant. sorry wasting time.
1. can tell me restore it? don't want put system file on desktop.
2. there anyway restore file previous location (i don't have backup)?
3. question's out of topic. if want install big program (game), should install @ os partition or @ partition? choice's recommended?
note: didn't find using search.

dragging dash desktop not move there. , defintiely don't have knid of power on system files...

created new launcher same application. original launcher still exists in menu before. (and actual program files sit elsewhere in correct system directories before)

cmes should install game, that's pretty own decision, based on kind of partitons have, using them for, , how space each has (and game needs).
