Thread: How to start working with APACHE?

hello ubuntuforums..

interested in learning apache! (this includes learning implementing own server, configuring , basic operations can performed it!)

not intending serious kind of work servers, want spend college vacations doing productive learning!

please recommend books/videos/sites start up. went through sites, couldn't make book buy, or site follow. learn of documentations, in case of apache, i'm @ level 0 (no prior experience servers)!

i recommend starting materials on @ apache web server's site:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.3/

there have questions , can around net or ask here specifics.

if looking place start, recommend setting 2 virtual hosts on machine. if can't name-based virtual hosts, can port-based.

if you'd start smaller, setting per-user web directories feel of web server , how serves pages.

if want set standardized headers, footers , navigation menus @ server-side includes. sure set them 'includesnoexec' security reasons. way can avoid scripting languages until need them full cms or else.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
