Thread: Portable OS vs Hard drive


i'm trying figure out why people booting ubuntu portable media... isn't slower boot media? wouldn't more stable , secure have os on hard drive? benefit missing people booting disks , not experiencing other cool can boot usb drive?

they're doing 1 of several reasons ...

wanting try out something, don't want mess around current partitioning -- prevent accidentally breaking something. example of trying pre-release version, or trying out new version -- without changing there today.

or ...

want have portable ubuntu bootable solution -- can plug various pcs, , able use ubuntu without having install it.

or ...

current pc came preinstalled windows, , maximum of 4 primary partititions -- , don't want fiddle this, or use wubi, able run ubuntu.

or ... (whatever other reason want)
