Thread: Setting the DVD drive speed

hi!

there few threads describes how control dvd drive speed reduce acoustic noise drive while watching movie, "eject -x <speed>" or "speedcontrol" program. works fine, except 1 thing: drive speed setting cleared , returned maximum whenever media changed, annoying. have bring terminal every time want watch movie.

there way set permanently?
or automount initscript connected /dev/cdrom or /dev/dvd mount event, "eject -x <speed> can added?

ultimately, drive speed setting in totem preferred.
or maybe general system setting exists?

yes, there permanent fix. don't remember though, but...

can use hdparm command -e parameter. see man page more details. not sure if that's correct way of slowing down permanently supposed work itself, think ubuntu system lacks important packages make happen. libdvdcss important package have installed, , once go there, more packages should added in process.
