the problems started when i've had installed java, can see in post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1900837&page=2 . problem has been solved, after solving problem, got update problem:
davis@ubuntu:~$ apt-get update
e: not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13: permission denied)
e: unable lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
e: not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: permission denied)
e: unable lock administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), root?

grateful, if tell how can solve or reinstall ubuntu 11.10, in dual boot windows 7.

first check if have open application synaptic or terminal.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
